There's no mention of COVID vaccines that were emphasized so heavily during the hurricane prep videos a couple of years ago. The CDC states, "Everyone aged 5 years and older ‡ should get 1 dose of an updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect against serious illness from COVID-19." Is this still the policy of BCEMA? For what reason was this recommendation omitted from this video when it was seemingly so important before?

Thank you all for the video feed of this meeting. As a native floridian and new resident of Palm Bay as of last year, I wanted to chime in with my thoughts as well. First, I loved the tv commercial! Job well done. I agree on the first set of ads that it would read and flow better to switch the countdown to your best beach vacation at the top, and the municipality switched to the bottom. I also don't really think you need the countdown clock. If you wanted to add some sort of countdown, maybe just add 3..2..1.. across all the ads. Instead of a random time. I 100% think the lifeguard thing should be a separate safety campaign. With a focus being on family safety. Maybe use that image you have and place them on a sign at every beach to indicate which beaches are lifeguard protected would make it easy for people to know. I love the website idea. I think for parents knowing there is a lifeguard there is a big bonus. "Lifeguard safe beaches, we watch your kids so you don't have to!" LOL kidding. The Orlando's closest beach ads are great. I don't think you can lean too hard into the rocket adds. We are literally called The Space Coast. For the Melbourne adds I enjoyed the Race you to the water add but not the more the merrier one as much. That one felt very busy. As a kid I went to Melbourne with my mom to watch the sea turtles hatch and it's one of my fondest childhood memories. I wish the add maybe incorporated that more. Like early morning sunrise over the beach with the turtles heading to the ocean. I didn't realize Palm Bay had such a big fishing community so I would love to see more adds focused on the fish to be caught here. One the topic of getting visitors during the the cooler "seasons" I think ads promoting the fact that it's still warm here would be great. Maybe utilizing your How cocoa does ads to have something like How the Space Coast does winter. With like a women with big shades on a raft in the water. Or a beach scene with a plam tree with lights and someone sitting in the sand with a coconut with a straw in it. Again I don't think you can over use rockets in ads. I like the idea of nasa flare lifeguard symbol but i think it needs to keep the key red and white lifeguard colors. Some things are just so ingrained into our minds, like a lifeguards, red and white colors that I think changing it will cause people to not instantly recognize it. I agree that the lifeguard ads should be targeted to families or moms. This way it comes across as more of a hey we care about your family here on the space coast. Not hey our beaches are dangerous. Most people know the is a inherent risk of swimming in the ocean. I love the last two adds. Especially the little kid on the surfboard. I agree they are super clean and to the point. Two other thoughts I had, which I personally love about living here, is how cool it is that we have the mysteries of both the ocean & space all in our backyard. No other beaches on the florida coasts can boast that. I just love the dynamics of thinking about the mysteries of the deep and the vastness of the universe. Also we have some pretty awesome dog beaches and parks here. I think it's a big bonus for pet owners and families to know that if they want to come visit the space coast that we have places for their furry family members as well. Would love to see some ads with this. Anyway, those are my thoughts on everything you all covered this meeting. I very much appreciate the video and all the hard work you all have put into these ads. It's looking great so far, I will look forward to seeing them out in the world. ❤ 🚀 ⛱️
